The Challenge
A 40,000 sq ft distribution and light manufacturing facility on Bessemer's I-20/59 corridor had south-facing clerestory glazing running the full length of the production floor. The glazing created intense heat gain that raised floor temperatures by up to 15°F above ambient in summer, increasing cooling costs, reducing worker productivity, and creating heat-stress risk for staff working near the south wall. The facility manager needed a solution that could be installed without halting production.
The Solution
Solar Busters specified Solar Gard Sentinel 35 — a proven commercial solar-control film with 65% heat rejection and 35% visible light transmission, maintaining adequate natural light on the production floor. Installation was phased across four days, with each section completed before the production shift began. No production stoppages were required. The full clerestory run — 4,400 sq ft of glazing — was treated in the four-day window.

"The south wall of the production floor used to be unusable in summer. Staff were rotating away from it every 30 minutes. Since the film went in, we've had no heat complaints and our cooling bills are down. The installation team worked around our shifts without any issues."
