The Challenge
A family home in Springville had large east- and south-facing windows across the main living areas and a sunroom addition at the rear. The sunroom had become unusable by mid-morning in summer — temperatures regularly exceeded 90°F inside — and the family was running portable fans and keeping blinds permanently closed across the rest of the house. The homeowners wanted to reclaim the sunroom and reduce their cooling bills without changing the look of the home.
The Solution
Solar Busters specified Solar Gard Quantum 50 nano-ceramic film for the main living areas and a higher-rejection Solar Gard Quantum 35 for the sunroom glazing, where the solar load was most intense. The nano-ceramic construction delivers excellent heat rejection without any metallic appearance or signal interference. All glazing — 1,650 sq ft across the main house and sunroom — was treated in two days. The homeowners were present throughout and assessed the sunroom temperature improvement before the second day's work began.

"The sunroom is our favourite room in the house now. We had breakfast out there this morning for the first time in two summers. The film on the main windows is invisible — we had to check it was actually there. Brilliant result."
